5 out of 5 stars A good strategy book, but not for beginners   August 29, 2008

I highly recommend this book for intermediate users who are already familiar with English usage but are looking for a quick review to familiarize themselves with the test format. Every test has its own strategy and so does iBT, which is very different from the PBT or CBT.

This book delivers the best 'strategies' to crack each part of TOEFL iBT. The strategies are very easy to understand and are very practical. I spent two days studying this book (and only this book), and received a satisfying score of 110 (out of 120). However, this book will NOT teach you so much about the basic knowledge for English grammar, structural writings, vocabs, etc. So if you need help in these fields, I'd recommend buying other books to complement your study. Good luck for the test!

5 out of 5 stars Perfect study guide...   November 4, 2009

i bought this book for my 2009 TOEFL IBT and after studying it and following its strategies, i was convinced that i was well prepared for the test, studied for 5weeks and got 100 out of 120. Now basically if you are expecting this book to teach you English language and grammar completely, you are mistaken, this is just a guide on how to excel on the test, a perfect one i must say, your general performance on a language is based on lifetime practice; constant reading, writing and speaking the language, but regarding the test, this is a blueprint on how to pass the TOEFL IBT.

This is a good book, it reviews all parts of the test and gives you great tricks, it also has a sample test you can take. I believe this book is better for the reading and writing part.I used another book called the michigan guide for better toelf test results and i believe that book is better at the listening and reading as well. Both books were good in the speaking section.I recommend getting both.

5 out of 5 stars It helped me to understand some parts of TOEFL IBT test very much   September 13, 2007

I'm going to pass TOEFL test soon.I have had this book for a while, but I haven't read it as I had other preparation materials for the TOEFL IBT test. However, 1 week ago I have finished Kaplan. Before I prepared to the test by Longman,Test preparation Kit by ETS,30 Days to TOEFL CBT.
Well when I started the book I had no good impression about it.Because it started in a rather equivocal way.I mean when I was reading the the first chapters:Introduction, Core Concepts I thought "Why did I buy the book?".The first chapters seemed to have no practical use.
Although when I moved to the part 3 "Cracking Each section of TOEFL IBT"
I changed my opinion concerning the book. It's really very cool.
I haven't finished the book yet.I'm in the middle of the part 3.But I'd really recommend the book for anyone who is goign to pass the TOEFL IBT test.
Well,I'd rather put 4.5 stars than 5, as comparing to let's say Kaplan and Longman it contains not so much listening part.Only 21 tracks. But taking into account how really helpful some parts of the book are I decided to put 5.

5 out of 5 stars Really good book   April 14, 2009

This book was the only resource that I studied before taking the TOEFL. I did not take private lessons, and tanks to this book I could pass the test in only one attempt. If you have enough time to study and practice what the book teaches, do not worry you are going to pass.
I applied all the tecniques that the book teaches and really help, specially in reading and listening part. Speaking and writing was a little hard to me, so I needed to practice a little more, but a got 95. A score of 95 studying only this book is good. Don't you think? Also, I have to encourage that you have to read a lot, newsweek, time, discovery magazines. Whatch CNN is good for vocabulary.
Practice, practice, practice, if you do not have time for this, this is not the book for you.
